Manipulation Protection

This function prevents the lock from being cracked by trying out any number of codes. It represents a great security advantage of electronic locks compared to mechanical locks. If a number of consecutive invalid opening codes are entered, the input unit is disabled for a certain time (often referred to as “penalty”). If further incorrect entries are made after the first waiting period has expired, another waiting period starts again. This cycle can only be broken by entering a valid code.

There are two basic types of manipulation protection:

static blocking period

After 4 invalid codes in a row there is a 5 minute blocking period.
After the blocking time has expired, 2 invalid codes are sufficient to restart the 5 min. blocking time.
A valid code entry resets the counter to zero.

1st hour: 26
2nd hour: 24
3rd hour: 24
4th hour: 24

progressive blocking period

After 3 invalid codes in a row, 10 seconds blocking time.
With every further invalid code this is increased by 10 seconds.
(i> 2: t = (i * 10) -20).
A valid code entry resets the counter to zero.

If you wanted to try out all possible codes from 000000 to 999999 with a machine, it would take several years for both types. For a mechanical lock in comparison, this only takes a few hours (a blocking period “penalty” cannot be implemented with a mechanical lock).
